Before You Kayak, Try This Class

For those interested in trying out paddle sports, Arizona Game and Fish hosts a monthly hand-on skills class on the pond at Ben Avery Shooting Facility. 

The class is designed to equip paddlers ages 10 and up with skills to navigate the water safely, how to handle emergency situations and learn about legal responsibilities with getting on the water. Classroom session is followed by kayak paddling on the water. Online registration is required. Paddle equipment and life jackets provided. Bring wet shoes, lunch or snack, folding chairs, towel and change of clothes. Consent waiver required.

Directions From main entrance to Ben Avery, turn right after two speed bumps into the Small Bore Range. Follow the dirt road east to Biscuit Tank and the Conservation Education building.
