A football field, a full outdoor basketball court, a large gymnasium, libraries for both the lower grades and upper grades, a drama stage and a lounge area for upperclassmen, are just some of the highlights Anthem Preparatory & Archway headmasters Teresa Clark and Zack Withers pointed out on a recent tour of the new campus.
Following a decade of serving its K-12 students in leased spaces in Anthem, the new two-story 82,000-square-foot Great Hearts Anthem campus on 10 acres at the northeast corner of Gavilan Peak Parkway and Arroyo Norte Drive, will open for the start of the 2022-23 school year Aug. 16.
“We’re looking forward to having a real home game on our own football field,” Withers said, adding that home games had previously been held at another field in North Phoenix, as its former location only had a small practice field.
The new campus will also allow for an additional section per grade at the K-5 level, bringing the school’s anticipated enrollment to 1,000. A wait list currently exists at all grade levels, but families are still encouraged to apply.
The floorplan allows for grades K-5 to be housed on the first floor and grades 6-12 on the upper level, with the classroom and laboratory space thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of the public charter school’s classical liberal arts curriculum operated by Great Hearts Academies.
