After four years of limbo, and two near foreclosures during the quest to secure funding, the former Legacy Sports Arena & Hotel, now known as Fire N Ice Arena & Hotel, near I-17 and Sonoran Desert Drive, has new owners with a promising plan to finish the vision created by former owner and local resident Rob Eaton.
On June 21, Texas-based SSS Partners, LLC, acquired 100 percent membership interests in Fire N Ice Sports, LLC, according to documents filed with Maricopa County. The acquisition by SSS includes both the arena and hotel.
Besides the commitment to complete the sports complex and hotel, the plan also includes housing a future school.
“The acquisition will foster the completion of a state-of-the-art community sports center, and notably, incorporate a cutting-edge school within the premises, catering to a diverse range of learning needs,” said SSS Principal Shubham Pandey.
SSS Partners has been at the forefront of championing educational endeavors for the past decade, actively supporting funding and operations for educational institutions and private schools in five states across the United States, as well as internationally.
SSS Partners will work to secure financing within the next four months.
Former owner Rob Eaton plans to work with SSS to continue to spearhead community activities in the arena and hotel under a collaborative agreement with the new ownership.
“The consortium is energized and steadfast in their goal to deliver a world-class facility that amalgamates sports, education, and community engagement, with the doors expected to open to the public in Fall 2024,” according to the announcement of the change in ownership.
