What began in 2002 as a weekly coffee meetup between a handful of local business leaders as the community of Anthem began to take shape, quickly morphed into a formal organization dedicated to helping local businesses grow and serve as a network of service-based businesses area residents could depend on.
This month marks the 20-year anniversary of the Preferred Businesses of Anthem (PBA) which began as a group of six business leaders and has grown to 45 members who meet weekly and work together to help one another meet their business goals and give back to the community that stands behind and supports them.
“When we got our start, our Anthem Area Chamber of Commerce was not formally in place, so local businesses were looking to branch out and establish relationships with one another,” recalls Justin Simons of State Farm.
Reflecting on the last two decades, Simons told Valley Vibe, “Aside from the fact that our group has some of the area’s strongest and most respected business leaders, we have shown incredible resiliency by staying together as an organization for 20 years.”
Today, PBA co-exists alongside the Anthem Area Chamber of Commerce, an organization formed within the past decade with a similar mission to help members and the community be successful.
Besides fostering positive business relationships and development, part of PBA’s mission also includes giving back through community service projects and fundraisers for local charities.
Guests and potential new members are always welcome at PBA meetings.
