At the end of the school year, Deer Valley Unified School District will no longer offer its online elementary education program in grades K-5.
Citing low enrollment in a letter to parents and the community, Aspire Online Academy Principal Juliet Amara said the difficult decision came after careful consideration by the district following the failure of the Maintenance & Operations override.
Students attending the program in grades 6–12 will be unaffected, as Aspire will continue to operate in its current online format. After a review of high school enrollment numbers and staffing levels, some changes have been made for the 2025-2026 school year to the online Spanish offerings. DVUSD spokesperson Kayla Pologa said Aspire’s Spanish classes will continue to be taught by certified instructors, but the program will be conducted in an addenda/adjunct model, instead of employing a full-time staff member.
