Homeland Brewing Co

Business is Brewing on Anthem’s West Side

Posted on June 23, 2025 by Karen Goveia

A new place to cool off with a cold one or unwind with a glass of wine is opening soon.

Both a craft taproom and bottle shop, Homeland Brew Co. is planning an early June opening on Anthem’s west side in the Commerce Park, located next to Havana Cigar Bar. Inside the 3,200-square-foot space, patrons will find a selection of more than 20 craft beer taps, including four of the company’s own brews and selection of wines, including reds, whites and rosé, in addition to ciders, seltzers and non-alcoholic beer.

The taproom and shop is owned by Anthem residents Mike and JJ Bielawski, a husband and wife team who saw a need for a local spot where neighbors could enjoy a large selection of craft-beer and wine in a family friendly and pet friendly environment.

Mike, who has had a passion for homebrewing, and a background in successfully launching and growing a distilled spirits company out of Los Angeles, told Valley Vibe he’s been working toward launching the new business for a handful of years. His plans got put on hold during the pandemic, and a search for the perfect space in central Phoenix turned up dry, so he and his wife and their young daughter moved to Anthem, where JJ spent her childhood growing up and was part of the first graduating class of Boulder Creek High School.

“I love the small town feel where everybody knows everybody up here, and we just felt like Anthem is in need of a place where families and dogs are welcome among people who love wine and beer and live music,” he said. “I call it the ‘neighbrewhood.’ ”

The space has a small scratch kitchen serving snacks and appetizers including charcuterie, paninis and gourmet hot dogs. Patrons are also invited to bring their own food in, or order from local food trucks when available.

A community bulletin board greets visitors upon entering and just steps away is the entrance to the beer hall—the heart of the taproom, with long community-style tables where guests can mingle. The bar seats more than 20 patrons, and there’s a lounge area with couches and comfortable seating. Packaged beer and wine will be available for purchase for carry-out, as well.

A gameroom in its own cove features shuffleboard, darts, and TV’s among barnwood walls, and there’s a small gated play area inside to keep the little ones entertained. The glass garage door to the back side of the building allows guests to enjoy drinks and food outdoors, and outdoor games like cornhole.
