Shopping Local Provides Much Needed Resources to Local Nonprofits

Posted on December 9, 2025 by Valley Vibe

Here are a few of the charities supported by our own Valley Vibe advertisers.

The holiday season is a time when shopping small and supporting the local brick-and-mortar and home-based businesses that define our community is top of mind.

When you support a small, locally owned business, you support the local business economy. Local business owners tend to keep their dollars local, too, and often give back to local charities and organizations.

In Arizona, small businesses account for more than 99 percent of businesses in the state, and employ 1.2 million residents, according to the Small Business Administration. Numerous studies show that for every $100 spent at a small business, $68 remains in the local economy.

Whether it be a gift hand-crafted by a local artisan or unique gifts purchased at a small shop, a gift certificate for self-care, dining and entertainment, and services needed for the home, there are hundreds of ways to support the local business community.
