Lego fans and collectors will soon have a new place in Norterra to play, shop, buy and sell new and used sets, pieces and minifigures of the iconic classic toy loved by all generations.
Bricks & Minifigs is targeting a mid-October opening in the Happy Valley Crossroads shopping center, northeast of 19th Avenue and Happy Valley Road.
Norterra residents Allen & Kat Blaz knew they wanted to be small business owners, and thanks to Allen’s love for Lego growing up―he still has all of his sets from his childhood―and a visit to see his brother out of state, the couple knew just the type of business the North Phoenix Valley needed.
“When we walked into the Bricks & Minifigs store in Albuquerque for the first time, we thought, ‘This is amazing, you can come in and play with bulk Legos, purchase missing pieces and complete your set,’ ” Kat recalled.
With two little Lego fans of their own, Alec, age 9 and Evie, age 4, all the pieces for the family business just came together. “We wanted to bring something that would benefit our community, a place people can take their kids, a place that brings people together,” Kat told Valley Vibe.
The franchise began in 2009 and has grown to more than 35 locations across the country, with Avondale being the only other Valley location. At Bricks & Minfigs, customers can sell or trade in their old sets for cash or store credit. Lego can be purchased or sold in bulk, and those minifigures and accessories that usually come packaged with most new sets can be purchased individually. New and used sets will also be available for purchase, and customers may even score a retired lego set from decades past.
The 1,600-square-foot store will also have a flex space to accommodate birthday parties
and kids camps.
