BASIS Phoenix North Campus Moves into New, Larger Campus

Posted on July 28, 2025 by Karen Goveia

At this time last year, BASIS Phoenix North, a tuition-free charter school part of the BASIS network, was preparing to make its debut in the far North Phoenix Valley in a temporary school space on Anthem’s west side in the Commerce Park, serving grades K-5. One year later, building upon its expansion plan to eventually serve grades K-12, BASIS is moving to a much larger and newer building just north of Anthem Way.

The new campus, located at 44111 N. 43rd Ave., includes a two-story classroom building and a gymnasium on a 10-acre site north of Daisy Mountain Post Office on Anthem’s west side.

The building is only six years old and was the former middle/high school campus for Caurus Academy until the end of the 2024-2025 school year. Competition from nearby charter schools and a declining student enrollment ultimately led Caurus to combine its elementary campus with its middle and high school campus for the 2024-2025 school year. And, at the end of the school year, EdKey Inc., the charter school’s management company, announced that Caurus would no longer be in operation.

When school resumes in August, BASIS will serve grades K–6 for the 2025–26 school year, expanding one grade level each year, so all students enrolled will have the opportunity to receive a full K-12 education.

The BASIS network is known for its STEM-infused liberal arts curriculum. Class sizes generally range from 25–30 students, and at full growth, the BASIS School footprint generally serves 900 students, a spokesperson for BASIS said.

BASIS Phoenix North Head of School Kathryn Kennedy told Valley Vibe the new location opens more opportunities for the students and more room for extracurriculars and sports, with its full-size gym and large outdoor play area.

“We are hard at work preparing our new space for the upcoming school year. Currently, we are

giving the building a ‘facelift’ with lots of painting, patchwork, and cleaning. We are also setting

up our classrooms and making them bright and inviting for our young learners,” Kennedy told Valley Vibe.

Seats are still available for the 2025-26 school year in certain grades, particularly kindergarten and first grade, and if seats are unavailable, families will be added to a first-come, first-served waitlist.

Kennedy said enrollment offers will continue to be made throughout the summer,

and even into the beginning of the school year as seats open up. New sections of grade levels may be added, based upon demand.

“Our enrollment team is doing their best to ensure that as many families as possible have the opportunity to enroll at BASIS Phoenix North,” she said.
