In the space formerly occupied by Caurus Academy’s early education campus along 42nd Avenue, Victory Schools is opening an academy for students on the autism spectrum.
Victory Autism Academy Anthem is part of the network’s specialized schools with multiple locations across the Valley, including North Scottsdale and Sun City, both of which are also opening in the fall 2025.
When VAA Anthem opens in the fall, it will serve between 50–70 students in grades K–8 in its first year, and will expand to serve K–12 in fall of 2026. Staff includes special education professionals, therapists, and support personnel.
The school’s curriculum is individualized and aligned with Arizona state standards, and integrates speech therapy, occupational therapy, behavioral support, and social-emotional learning, Executive Director Nick Schuerman told Valley Vibe.
“We have over 25 different curriculums we use to help us meet the individual needs of each student. We use evidence-based practices and incorporate functional life skills to promote independence, self-advocacy, and post-secondary readiness,” Schuerman said.
The new campus is in the midst of a redesign to meet the needs of the students. Priorities include creating sensory-friendly environments, small class sizes, and individualized instruction tailored to the needs of each learner.
VAA accepts ESA (Empowerment Scholarship Account) dollars funded by state tax dollars to provide educational options outside the public school setting for eligible students in the state. Other scholarship opportunities are also available. Enrollment is currently ongoing for the 2025-26 school year. Interested families can schedule a tour and meet with the school’s team.
A family-friendly open house is planned for families to learn more. For enrollment information, visit www.victoryautismacademy.com.
