In preparation for freeway roadwork on the start of the Loop 303 Improvement Project, I-17 the Arizona Department of Transportation has announced lane restrictions and ramp closures this weekend, Saturday, Feb. 21–Sunday, Feb. 22.
Dove Valley Road
The southbound I-17 on-ramp at Dove Valley Road will be closed from 2 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
Detour: Drivers may consider using westbound Dove Valley Road to southbound 43rd Avenue to eastbound Loop 303 or eastbound Dove Valley Road to southbound North Valley Parkway to westbound Sonoran Desert Drive to access I-17.
Loop 303/Sonoran Desert Drive
The southbound I-17 off-ramp at Loop 303/Sonoran Desert Drive will be closed from 2 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
Detour: Drivers may consider using the I-17 off-ramp at Dove Valley Road and traveling west to southbound 43rd Avenue to access Loop 303 or travel east to southbound North Valley Parkway to access Sonoran Desert Drive.
The northbound I-17 off-ramp at Loop 303/Sonoran Desert Drive will be closed from noon Saturday, to 2 a.m. Sunday.
Detour: Drivers may consider using the I-17 off-ramp at Dove Valley Road and traveling west to southbound 43rd Avenue to access Loop 303 or travel east to southbound North Valley Parkway to access Sonoran Desert Drive.
Note: The north- and southbound I-17 on- and off-ramps will not be closed simultaneously.
I-17
Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to two lanes between Dove Valley Road and Loop 303/Sonoran Desert Drive from 2 a.m., Saturday to 2 a.m., Sunday.
Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to three lanes from Dixileta Drive to Loop 303/Sonoran Desert Drive from 2 a.m., Saturday to 2 a.m., Sunday.
The project, which is expected to take two and a half years to complete, includes these improvements:
- Constructing four new direct connecting ramps for the I-17/Loop 303 system interchange
- Adding a third general-purpose lane on Loop 303 in each direction between Lake Pleasant Parkway and I-17
- Constructing new bridges to accommodate a future traffic interchange at 67th Avenue
- Installing new lighting
- Constructing drainage improvements
- Installing new overhead sign
