Sprouts Farmer’s Market confirmed it is taking over the space formerly occupied by Bed Bath & Beyond located in Tramonto Marketplace near I-17 & Carefree Highway.
The grocery chain has long been requested by residents in the far North Phoenix and greater Anthem area over the past decade. Bed Bath & Beyond announced its closing in late 2022, and it didn’t take long for Sprouts to swoop in.
“We are excited to spread goodness in the Phoenix community,” Sprouts Public Relations Specialist Ashley Lang told Valley Vibe in an email. Lang said the store is targeting an opening date in the second quarter of 2024.
The lease agreement has already been executed, said Larry Brown, vice president of Diversified Partners Commercial Real Estate brokerage.
“We’ve been working on this for three years. We’re excited to make that deal, it’s a great piece of property and a positive addition for the community,” Brown told Valley Vibe in a phone interview.
The addition of Sprouts fills the last of the remaining vacancies in the plaza, with Brown calling it “the whip cream on ice cream.”
The 28,000-square-foot shell fits the Sprouts footprint of its stores, which average between 25,000–30,000 square feet.
Interior demolition is already underway and should be complete by the beginning of April, according to a spokesperson from A.R. Mays Construction.
At the time of this writing, A.R. Mays had not been awarded the construction build out contract, however the construction firm has been responsible for building about two dozen other sprouts locations, including the one along Carefree Highway in Cave Creek.
